Summary:
“An Oath Forged Underground,” the story continues with Edward and Izumi being confronted by the Sloth homunculus in the underground tunnels beneath Briggs Fort.Incredibly strong and nearly invincible, Sloth attacks the pair with a flurry of powerful punches and kicks. Despite their best efforts, Ed and Izumi are unable to hit the homunculus, which seems immune to their attacks.Meanwhile, at the fortress, General Olivier Mira Armstrong and her troops prepare for a potential invasion by the homunculus army. They have fortified their defenses and are ready for whatever may come.Back in the tunnels, Ed and Izumi continue to fight Sloth, but are eventually pushed to the brink of defeat. Just when all hope seems lost, they remember the words of their master who taught them to never give up and keep fighting.Drawing strength from their memories of her, Ed and Izumi promise to protect each other and never give up, no matter how hard the fight may be. With this newfound determination, they are able to land a powerful blow on the Sloth and eventually bring the homunculus down.When the dust settles, Ed and Izumi emerge from the tunnels victorious, but battered and bruised. They return back to the fort, where they are given a hero’s welcome by General Armstrong and her troops.The chapter ends with Ed and Izumi resting and recovering from their injuries while General Armstrong continues to prepare for the inevitable battle ahead.
