Summary:
“Shadow of the Chaser” continues the story from the previous chapter where Roy Mustang confronts Envy disguised as King Bradley.As the battle between Mustang and Envy continues, Envy reveals that they are the ones who killed Hughes and taunts Mustang with the truth. Mustang goes berserk and nearly kills Envy, but is stopped by Riza Hawkeye, who reminds him of his duty to protect the people of Amestris.Meanwhile, Ed and Al, along with their father Hohenheim, search for the remaining Homunculi. They encounter a group of chimeras chasing the Pride and a battle ensues. During the fight, Al discovers that Pride is actually Selim Bradley, the son of King Bradley, who is a Homunculus made in the child’s image.When the battle ends, Mustang orders the capture of Envy and the group reconvenes to discuss their next steps. Hohenheim reveals that he has a plan to defeat the father, but it involves sacrificing himself. Ed and Al refuse to let their father sacrifice himself, but Hohenheim reminds them that they still have their mother’s love to support them.The chapter ends with the group heading out to confront the father and stop his plan to create the Philosopher’s Stone using the souls of the people of Amestris.
