Summary:
The chapter first begins with Izumi undergoing abdominal surgery at the doctor’s, as shown by the scar. The doctor gives Izumi her usual prescription as she thanks him. While buttoning up his shirt, Izumi asks the doctor if he knows anything about amnesia. The Doctor points out that this is not his area of expertise. Izumi explains that the guy (Alphonse) lost a small part of his memory. The doctor explains that hypnosis is the best method because it can trace memories into the subconscious. He also reveals that a strong shock can also work. Izumi gets up and in her head decides to use the second method and tries to bash his head in when he returns.At the butcher shop, Ed seems desperate and frozen. Al (whose head is bandaged) and Izumi (who was trying to awaken Al’s memory by hitting him on the head) noticed. Alphonse asks Edward if he blew his back, while Ed reveals that he forgot about this year’s assessment, which Alphonse sees as bad news. Izumi doesn’t know what it is, while Al explains that the state alchemist must be evaluated every year. If this is not done correctly, Edward will lose his license and title.Meanwhile, at Camp Ishbalan, Scar is recovering from his injuries. Two thugs show up to collect the reward for him after Yoki informs them that he is staying there. Scar gets up and appears to accede to the thugs’ demands. However, he immediately incapacitates one by disintegrating his arm and then kills the other by smashing his skull against the wall. He then leaves the camp.Back at the butcher shop, Al receives a note leaving Bido to meet unknown people at a nearby location to discuss his “secret”. He decides to go to an abandoned factory. Once there, it becomes clear that these strangers, Martel, Dorchet and Loa, have no intention of coming to Al from this meeting. Al goes into the factory, thinking he’ll outmaneuver the three attackers, since he and Ed used to play hide-and-seek in that factory when they were younger. After some chasing and fighting, Al is finally defeated after Dorchet knocks off his helmet and Martel jumps down in it. Once inside, she manages to slow him down enough for Loa to finish him off and they proceed to take him to meet his master.
