Summary
Führer President Bradley and his troops raid the Devil’s Nest and take no prisoners. Most of the survivors, including the Loa and Dorchet chimeras, were forced to retreat to the lower floors where they made their last stand.At the same time, Greed and Ed are busy fighting it, with Ed taking most of the abuse since the Homunculi are practically indestructible. However, Ed refuses to give up and continues to dig to keep the battle going.The Chimeras are confronted by Major Armstrong and the Loa engage him. Seeing that his normal weapon, the great hammer, is not working, he abandons it and resorts to using only his innate chimeric animal powers. During a lull in the epic battle between the two, it was announced that President Führer Bradley was on the raid, news to those fighting in these lower levels. Just as Dorchet and Loa prepare for a tactical retreat, the President ambushes Dorchet and stabs his heart with a sword. Seeing the president murdering his countrymen, Loa accuses him and, like the others, beheads them without mercy.Still refusing to give up, Edward continues to fight Greed and indeed seems to have found a weakness to exploit. Greed, thinking it was just a one-time fluke, keeps attacking. That’s exactly what Ed wants. Since Ed had indeed found a weakness in the Homunculus of Greed, he decided the better course of action now was to beat a hasty retreat. Just as Ed is about to follow, soldiers arrive and detain him while Greed looks to run away. In the tunnels, Greed crawls through and finds Al with the Chimera Martel still inside him. As the Homunculus and Chimera discuss their retreat, President Bradley appears and says that he won’t let Greed go. Greed engages him in battle and he wonders how to defeat the “old” man. He is very surprised when he ends up with the President’s swords at his throat and the Ouroboros tattoo is visible on the President’s normally covered eye patch.
